The Piva Canyon lies in north-western Montenegro around the town of Plužine, cut by the Piva River between the Bioč, Volujak, Maglić and Piva plateau massifs, just across the border from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At up to roughly 1,200 metres deep, it is among the deepest canyons in Europe. The river's striking emerald-to-turquoise colour comes from dissolved limestone minerals in exceptionally clear, cold water.

This region currently groups the cross-border Piva via ferrata, reachable in a similar drive time to the Sarajevo and Mostar routes.
